  Saks Inc. has a number of distribution centers throughout the US. These DC's are rolling out Catalyst WMS software to manage their facilities. The implementation process is managed by the Logistics Division of Saks. Their wireless network uses products manufactured by both Symbol Technologies and Paxar/Monarch. Connect's PowerNet Twin Client was used to do it. Here's the story.

   Evans Tool and Die is a custom job shop company with no stock items. Orders are received and built to order. Tracking orders and shipping properly with the label formats needed for their customers was an ongoing challenge. A number of customers had specific label formats required for their orders.

Additionally, the company needed to be able to count their inventory on a cycle count basis.

Evans Tool and Die does not have an internal IT department and resources for designing a system are limited.

This led Evans Tool and Die to explore options for addressing available solutions to these requirements. They explored custom third party software as well as off the shelf products.
